Haze and The Blank Space

Haze and The Blank Space was my senior thesis solo show at the Tabula Rasa Gallery. It was inspired by the vivid and dark dreams that I had been recently experiencing, as well as the missing time within the dream state.

As an artist, I develop artwork that speaks about the relationship and exploration of dreams, memories, and reality. There is an environment we live within, and the other that lives within us. Sleep is a way for the body to learn and create solutions to problems that we experience in everyday life. No one shares the same experience when dreaming and my work is a way for me to share my own dream experience. My dreams create a sense of emotional unease and discomfort, so I create artwork that allows my viewers to share the feelings and emotions that these dreams create.

The dream state is comprised of dramatic changes. The Blank Space is the moment within the dream state that you can't quite recall. This painting is a representation of what I imagine that collection of lost time to be.
