About Me
Bio
For all of my life I have lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have always been interested in the arts since I was a child. I an am emerging artist who recently graduated from the University of Cincinnati in the College of Design Architecture Art and Planning's 5 year Fine Art BFA program.
Artist Statement
I enjoy over saturated images and pride myself in attention to detail. I am drawn to shapes and most of my inspiration comes from nature. As an artist, I work to develop artwork that speaks to both me and others about the relationship between nature and humans. I want to help humans think of animals as being equal to us. After all, humans are animals.
I don’t find it important to subscribe to a specific medium, though I would call myself a two-dimensional artist. Often my medium of choice is paint, simply because I can easily get the texture I want onto the page, with bold colors. However I am moving towards becoming a more digital artist. I am very interested in the way two things can be connected with a line, shape, or color. I use this to make connections between separate things in my work. In some of my artwork I work to show contrast between order/chaos, and beauty/ugliness we do and don’t see, while in others I work to show just the beauty of it. “We have lost touch with our instincts about beauty”(Iris Scott). I draw a lot of my inspiration from Scott. She is working on a new era of art called Instinctualism. It’s about getting lost in beauty and color.
Recently I have also found enjoyment and inspiration within my dreams and within learning about the dream state itself. See my Senior Solo show under Haze and The Blank Space.
